Man Tried To Bring Drugs, Needles Into Court: Morris Plains Police

Police also found an active warrant for his arrest.

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — A Victory Gardens resident was arrested after he attempted to bring drugs and a needle into the Morris Plains Municipal Court, Morris Plains police said.

The 31-year-old man was being screened before a scheduled court appearance Tuesday afternoon when a security guard found drugs and paraphernalia, police said. They did not identify the man.

He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of hypodermic needles, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also had a warrant out for his arrest in Morristown.

The man was arrested and taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility for bail review.

On May 1st, 2017, at 2:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Bottle King, 246 Littleton Road, for the reported male that attempted to purchase alcohol with a fraudulent identification. Dispatch advised responding patrols that the male in question left the scene but, Bottle King staff was able to obtain a vehicle license plate and direction of travel. An officer located the vehicle traveling Route 10 West near Powder Mill Road and conducted a motor vehicle stop. During the investigation the male, 20-year old Denville resident, was found to be in possession of the fraudulent identification and placed under arrest. He was processed, charged with tampering with public records and multiple ABC violations. He was then released pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.

On May 3rd, 2017, at 12:46 a.m., an officer on routine patrol was conducting a property check of Community Park, 51 Jim Fear Drive. While conducting the check, the officer observed a vehicle leaving the area with inoperable headlight. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop with the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 22-year old male Morristown resident. While speaking with him the officer detected a strong odor of suspected Marijuana and the occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle for a search to be completed. Subsequently, the driver was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, failure to surrender controlled dangerous substance to a law enforcement officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was additionally issued a local ordinance for being in the park past hours and issued traffic summonses for maintenance of lamps and possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle. He was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.

On May 3rd, 2017, at 9:02 a.m., an officer was conducting a RADAR detail on Malapardis Road and conducted a motor vehicle stop with a vehicle for speeding. Upon making contact with the driver, a 33-year old male North Carolina resident, the officer observed several items of Drug Paraphernalia in plain view. The driver was asked to step out of his vehicle and he voluntarily handed additional items of contraband to the officer. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued traffic summonses for driving while suspended, speeding, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle. He was then released pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.

On May 4th, 2017, at 12:39 a.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Tabor Road with a vehicle for failing to keep right. Upon making contact with the driver, a 27-year old male Pittstown resident, the officer detected a strong odor of suspected Marijuana. The driver provided the officer with a baggie containing Marijuana and a smoking pipe. He was then placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued traffic summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle and failure to keep right. The driver was also found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Clinton Municipal Court, which they released him. He was then released pending mandatory court appearances in Morris Plains and Clinton Municipal Court.
