Morris Plains Clean Communities Cleans Up This Fall
This fall about 150 young people and 38 supervising adults took to the streets to clean up Morris Plains.

They say many hands make quick work and that’s just what happened this fall when about 150 young people and with 38 supervising adults took to the streets of Morris Plains. Almost 1,000 pounds of trash and 85 pounds of recyclables were collected and properly disposed of and recycled. The Morris Plains DPW helped too, by picking up a broken PVC street sign frame that Boy Scout Troop #39 found along Route 53. Three Girl Scout Troops helped out, as well as the Girl Scout Service Unit, the Girls Tennis Team and 6th graders from Borough School. Little ones from the French-American Academy at the Lutheran Church swept through Simons Park and Cub Scout Troop #233 once again cleaned up Watnong Park.
Additionally, the kids from the High School Soccer Boosters went wild cleaning the entire train station and parking lots (including raking up all the leaves). The area was spotless. This ended up being a very big job due to the incredible amount of cigarette butts that were littered everywhere. The town has asked NJ Transit for help with this, by supplying cigarette posts at the station.
Jobs well done by all.
