Morris Township Democrats to Hold Spring Fundraiser to Meet & Greet Candidates

The Morris Township Democratic Committee will hold its Sweet Spring Fundraiser on Sunday, June 4 from 5-7 p.m. at a private home in the Township. Attendees will have a chance to meet the Democratic candidates for Morris Township Committee, Cathy Wilson and John Arvanites.
Michael Soriano, candidate for mayor in Parsippany, will be guest speaker. Also attending will be Lisa Bhimani, Tom Moran, Rich Corcoran and Rozella Clyde, who are Democratic candidates for state and county office.
Cathy Wilson, who has run previously for this office, is currently the chair of the Morris Township Democratic Committee. She is also a member of the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, Sustainable Morristown, and the League of Women Voters. She is a graduate of Emerge New Jersey, a training program that encourages women to run for office, get elected, and seek higher office.

Wilson is a retired educator. In 2012 she completed a master’s degree in negotiation and conflict resolution at Columbia University.
John Arvanites, a former mayor of Roseland for four years and a council member there for 10 years, is a first-time candidate for Township Committee. He also coached soccer, basketball and baseball in the youth programs in Roseland for 25 years. He is a certified public accountant and the President of Arvanites and Associates, CPA, PA. He is also a co-founder of Integrated Payroll Systems, Inc. He is the father of three children.

Guest speaker Michael Soriano, the candidate for Parsippany mayor, is a second-generation electrician. He has served as both a foreman and superintendent on dozens of projects throughout New York City. He is also a past chairman of the Parsippany Democratic Committee and a leader within his union, IBEW Local 3, where he serves as Legislative Director for the Santiago-Iglesias Educational Society and a member of the Wage and Policy Committee.

Requested donations are $50 for a Contributor, or $100 for a Supporter. Other donations are also accepted. Checks are payable to MTDC at the door.
