The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a reminder to residents not to flush products other than toilet paper.
April 3, 2020
Please Do Not Flush Any Products Other Than Toilet Paper
We understand that in response to the current crisis, many of our residents stocked up on disinfectant wipes and other disposables and we encourage you to continue disinfecting your environment to prevent the spread of COVID-19, however we ask everyone to be especially mindful of how to properly get rid of these items.

Toilet paper is the only product safe to flush- never flush disinfecting wipes or other non-flushable items(paper towels, sanitizing wipes, gloves, old rags, etc.). Products labeled “flushable” could still block pipes and jam up treatment plants even if they swish down your toilet. So, trash it. Don’t flush it.
“Preventable toilet and sewer backups can pose a threat to human health and present an extra challenge to our water utilities and their workforce. Flushing anything other than toilet paper, including disinfecting wipes, can damage internal plumbing, local sewer systems and septic systems. Fixing these backups is costly and takes time and resources away from ensuring that wastewater management systems are otherwise working properly.”-US Environmental Protection Agency
