Morris Township Police Warn Against Scam

It's easy to avoid if you're careful.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ— Morris Township police are warning residents about a resurgence of a water utility scam.

Police say people have been posing as "Water Authority" employees in order to get into residents homes and steal items. This is a spin-off of a similar scam earlier this summer, where people posing as utility employees would leave appointment cards for residents.

Actual Water Authority employees (SMCMUA) will always be in uniform, driving a marked car, and have scheduled appointments.
