Morris Township Pools Look To Reopen
Registration is open now, even if the pool is not.
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ - Gov. Phil Murphy's restrictions designed to stem the spread of COVID-19 are easing and local pools and swim clubs are looking to open.
And Ginty Pool and Streeter Pool are among them, but they aren't quite ready yet.
"We are planning to open both Ginty Pool and Streeter Pool for the 200 season but we do not have an opening day to announce today," Director of Parks & Recreation Bill Foelsch told Patch.

In an earlier update, Foelsch shared what some of the restrictions could look like when they do reopen:
- Restrictions on daily entrance capacities based on total usable deck and lawn areas at each pool
- Mandatory social distancing when on the lawns and deck, and also while in the water.
- Maintaining appropriate social distancing while in line waiting to enter the pools
- Individual temperature screening of all members before entering the pool entrance gate
- Restrictions on or the elimination of guest admissions
- Closure of high-touch amenities and areas where social distancing would be difficult to achieve
- Elimination of common area picnic tables, benches, and chase lounges- only permitting personal lawn chairs (no chase lounges) to be brought into the pool complex.
- Facial coverings mandatory when not using the pools
- Very limited access to, and restricted time of use of, lap swimming lanes.
- Limited times for use of slides and diving boards, with 6 foot social distance line-up requirements
- No birthday parties or special celebrations
Memberships are currently being processed online through the town website, but the plan is to pro-rate 2020 seasonal membership fees based on the percentage of lost operational hours from June 6 to a newly announced opening date.

"If you have already paid your 2020 membership, you will receive a refund for the pro-rated amount," Foelsch said.
