Morris Township resident Kenneth Sharperson announces his candidacy for the Morris School District School Board.

Kenneth Sharperson filed for election to the Morris School District school board. The election is November 7, 2017.

Sharperson is the father of four children and fully understands the importance of education. As a former teacher, Sharperson fully recognizes that the teachers and staff of our district do an excellent job and it his goal to nurture that legacy through the promotion of a positive working environment for our teachers.

"As a former public school teacher and attorney, I believe that I will bring a fresh and unique perspective to the Morris School District school board," Sharperson said. "I have always been an advocate for education from majoring in education to serving in the classroom as a public school teacher. I am looking forward to bringing change and new ideas to the Morris School District school board."

If elected, Sharperson will work to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability by encouraging easy access to public information, create a long-term strategy for enrollment growth resulting from the influx of new residential developments which will increase the population of school-age children, increase transparency within the District and from the Board, and ensure that our schools provide a world-class education that empowers every child to succeed, regardless of race, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Sharperson received a Bachelors Degree from Hampton University, and a Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School. Sharperson has been a Morris Township resident since 2009, and has served as a volunteer soccer and football coach in Morris Township. Sharperson has also served on the Township’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Sharperson is married to Denise and has a second grader and kindergartener at Woodland Elementary.
