Morris Twp Officer Honored For Hurricane Maria Relief Efforts

Patrolman Diego Pinheiro traveled to Puerto Rico to help the island after Hurricane Maria hit.

MORRIS TWP, NJ — A Morris Township Police Officer was one of four honored by the Prosecutor's Office for their Hurricane Maria relief efforts.

Patrolman Diego Pinheiro of the Morris Township Police Department, Police Officers Kristian T. Sandman and Peter F. Grawehr of the Denville Police Department and Corporal Samuel Trimble of the Mountain Lakes Police Department were formally commended at a Friday afternoon ceremony.

“These men fully embody the full meaning of being a civil servant, and were recognized for going above and beyond their daily duties,” Chief Of Investigations John Speirs said.

The four Morris County officers were part of about 400 officers who traveled to Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.

“It is an honor to know that there are members of our County’s law enforcement family, who take their civic responsibilities above and beyond what is expected of them. Their efforts should not and do not go unnoticed in Morris County. We in the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office are pleased to recognize these four volunteers,” Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said.
