Mother & Daughter Carry-On Legacy of Family Business
The Dangler Family Taking Care of Families

“Dangler” …. A name that is synonymous with family-owned and operated funeral homes in Morris County. Betty and Christine, the Mother-Daughter Team of Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler in Madison, realize that the love and support they receive from their family helps them guide, comfort, and support the families entrusted to their care.
With their own experience of loss, in particular, William R. Dangler, Sr. and James E. Dangler, (father, grandfather, and husband), Betty and Christine realized that the loss of a loved one had a profound impact on their lives. This realization helps them to create a personal experience with the families they serve during one of their most difficult times.
“I always knew I wanted to become a Funeral Director. My Grandfather and Father taught me how to be compassionate, empathetic, generous, and trustworthy. By their examples, I witnessed first-hand how these traits helped to build and maintain relationships with people. To this day, families who dealt with my Grandfather and Father mention how they treated them and remember how special they felt when they were around them,” adds Christine. “It’s these special relationships with families that I love hearing about and we cherish as a Family Business. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to carry on their legacy.”

Our service to our families does not end once the funeral is over. It continues even after the funeral. As an integral part of this service, Betty emphasizes the importance of Aftercare. “That is the reason I offer a seven-week Grief Support Program in the Spring and Fall. As I continue to connect with families during these programs, the family members realize that they are not alone on their journey of healing.”
In 2020, Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home celebrated 200 years as a family-owned and operated business. Since its establishment in 1820, Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home has been managed by seven generations of families, which includes 3 generations of Dangler family members.
