Pool Fees Will Increase 1.5% to 2% in Morris Township

Pool fees will go up slightly in Morris Township this year, according to William Foelsch, director of parks and recreation. "The increase ranges from one-and-one half to two percent. That's about $5 in each type of membership," he said. New fees are listed below.

Several other changes are planned. According to Foelsch, "The pool advisory committee suggested a special rate for Morristown residents because of the shared neighborhoods." Morris Township and Morristown families have long grappled with the choice between swimming at their official pool sites or spending more money to join a pool that may be closer and have more of their friends as members, but is  located on the other side of the town border.

Foelsch said that the township has also formalized the practice of giving pool memberships to volunteers from the fire department, Morris Minutemen and the Morris Township Office of Emergency Management. While this has been an accepted practice in the township for years, he said that it is now official policy.

In an effort to boost revenue, Morris Township pools will now offer guest admissions during the month of August only. Unlike a guest pass, which allows the single-day visitor to come to the pool with a paying member, the guest admission will be open to all at a rate of $15 per day for Morris Township residents and $20 per day for non-residents.
