Recent Activity in Morris County: Police

Morris County Park Police Department reported the following activity, including an injured bicyclist and a DWI arrest.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The following actions were reported by the Morris County Park Police Department:

NARCOTICS/HINDERING APPREHENSION

On Oct. 2, an officer carried out a motor-vehicle stop for an equipment violation in Jefferson. An investigation led to Carlos M Rengifo, 27, of Dover, to be charged with Hindering Apprehension, and a 17-year-old juvenile charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, police said. Rengifo was released with a court date pending, and the juvenile was released at the scene to a parent, according to police.

NARCOTICS

A Dover woman was arrested on Oct. 2 for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. An officer observed a suspicious occupied vehicle at Hedden County Park in Mine Hill and led an investigation that revealed Stephanie Clarke, 24, to be in possession of narcotics. She was released with a court date pending, police said.

NARCOTICS

On Oct. 2, a 16-year-old juvenile was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. The juvenile was charged after an officer on patrol in Hedden County Park in Randolph observed a suspicious occupied vehicle and investigated, police said. The juvenile was released to a parent and has a pending court date.

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED

On Oct. 4, an officer executed a motor-vehicle stop in Jefferson for a moving violation that led to a Wayne man charged with a DWI. Brian J. Vanvleet, 31, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and several other motor-vehicle violations. Vanvleet was eventually released and has a court date pending, police said.

INJURED BICYCLIST

A detective was dispatched to the Columbia Trail in Washington after a report of a bicyclist hit by a vehicle on Oct. 5, police said. The bicyclist was brought to the hospital for further evaluation and/or treatment.

THEFT

On Oct. 6, an officer was dispatched to the Sunset Valley Golf Course in Pequannock on a call of a stolen backpack leaf blower, police said. The Detective Bureau is continuing the investigation.

ARRESTS FOR WEAPONS/HINDERING APPREHENSION

An officer executed a motor-vehicle stop for an equipment violation in Jefferson on Oct. 7. An investigation by the officer led to Johnathon L. Wayman, 23, of Newton, to be charged with two counts of Possession of a Weapon. Branden R. Corey, 25, of Newton, was charged with Hindering Apprehension and Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, police said. Corey also had a warrant out for his arrest from the Sussex County Sheriff's Office. Wayman was eventually released with a court date pending, while Corey is in custody of the Sussex County Sheriff's Office, police said.
