Sona Thirteen, Dark Horse Liquor License Renewals Considered Wednesday Night

Attorneys for businesses, town will meet to iron out details of possible license renewal with conditions, town clerk says.

Six weeks after the Morristown Council denied the outright renewal of the liquor licenses for Sona Thirteen and Dark Horse Lounge, attorneys for the town and those businesses will meet Wednesday night to seek common ground.

A public hearing between attorneys for the town and Sona Thirteen will meet at 6 p.m. in the Morristown Council’s chambers, followed by a public hearing between attorneys for the town and Dark Horse Lounge at 7:30 p.m.

A possible renewal with conditions may be sought, according to town clerk Robin Kesselmayer. Formal action may be taken as well.

The bars have been operating under Ad Interim permits after their licenses expired on Monday, June 30. The council declined renewals because it received five Alcoholic Beverage Consumption violations for Dark Horse and another 10 for Sona.

The violations were all for serving underage drinkers with one instance of holding an open bar without permission.
