The Boy Scout slogan is, “Do a good turn daily.” Boy Scouts with Troop 39 did plenty of “good turns” of the spatula, flipping burgers and grilling hot dogs at the Morris Plains Community Bonfire on October 26. Troop volunteers cooked and served food at the annual event, which traditionally draws hundreds of Morris Plains residents. The troop has participated in the community bonfire for many years.
Troop 39 has a full calendar of events, including camping at Fort Ticonderoga, a sleep-over on an historic ship, and hiking on a Civil War battlefield. Troop 39 is chartered by the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains, where it meets every Monday at 7:15 p.m. For more information, visit the troop’s website at www.troop39bsa.org.
