Boy Scouts from Troop 39 brought seven canoes to Morris Plains’ Family Day on June 29, giving Borough residents the opportunity to try the sport free on the Community Park Pond. About 15 Scouts from the troop set up the event, assisted paddlers with flotation devices, demonstrated proper paddling techniques and managed crowds. More than 100 Morris Plains residents participated in the Troop 39 canoe event.
Troop 39 meets every Monday at 7:15 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Morris Plains. For more information, visit the troop’s website at www.troop39bsa.org.
