Vacancy Open On Morris Plains Board Of Education
Applications are now being accepted for a vacant position on the local Board of Education.
MORRIS PLAINS, NJ ā The Morris Plains Board of Education is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a vacancy on the board.
The position serves as part of the policy-making legislative branch of the local school district. The individual appointed to this role will serve a term beginning on May 26 and concluding on Dec. 31.
Morris Plains School District covers Mountain Way School and Morris Plains Borough School, teaching a combined 578 students in grades preK-8.

Following the conclusion of this appointment, the seat will be placed on the ballot for the annual school election in November 2026.

- A citizen of the United States of America
- At least 18 years of age
- Able to read and write
- A resident of the Morris Plains Community for at least one year preceding the date of appointment
- Not directly/indirectly interested in a contract with, or a claim against, the Board
- Registered to vote in the District
- Not disqualified as a voter pursuant to NJSA 19:4-1
Individuals interested in serving the children of the school district are encouraged to apply by submitting a resume and a letter of interest.
Applications should be directed to Catherine Jenisch, who serves as the Business Administrator and Board Secretary. Materials can be mailed or delivered to the Morris Plains School District office located at 520 Speedwell Avenue, Suite 116, in Morris Plains.
The district has established a firm deadline for the submission of applications. Letters of application will be accepted through April 13, until 4 p.m.
Once the application window closes, the Board of Education will review all qualifying applicants to determine the next steps in the selection process.
The board operates under powers delegated by law to oversee the district and set policies for the school community. Residents who meet the stated criteria are invited to participate in the governance of the local school system by seeking this appointment.
