Woman Struck, Killed Crossing Rt. 10 in Morris County

A Morris County woman was struck by a car and killed while she tried crossing a busy section of Route 10 in Morris Plains Wednesday night.

The woman, Mary Cox, 60, of Denville, was trying to cross the highway from the westbound side to the eastbound side approximately a quarter-mile east of Route 53 in Morris Plains around 11 p.m., according to dailyrecord.com.

The driver was identified as Marta Henao-Norena, 49, of Dover, the report said.

Cox was taken to Morristown Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

The area Cox was crossing, police said, was not designated for pedestrian crossing.
