2 'At-Risk' People Vanish In Morris County Forest, Police Seek Help

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Two people who police consider "at risk" have been reported missing out of Morris County.

On Tuesday, the Montville Police Department said that John Higgins, 77, and Virginia Taetzch, 87, vanished, and authorities are seeking the public's help in finding them.

Higgins is described as a white, 6'5" man with white and grey hair.

Police described Taetzch as a white, 5'3" woman with brown eyes and light brown hair.

Both individuals were last seen on Sunday around Pyramid Mountain near Boonton Avenue in Montville. Authorities added that the last contact with either person was at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Anyone with info on either persons whereabout is asked to call the Montville Police Department at 973-257-4300.

On Tuesday, around 5:30 p.m., the Morris County Prosecutor's Office announced that an active death investigation, which followed "search and rescue efforts" from several agencies, was underway off Stony Brook Road in Montville Township.

Officials did not clarify if the search for Taetzch and Higgins was related to the investigation.
