4 Inches Of Rain, Floods Possible In Morristown Through Wednesday
Forecasters expect the upcoming storm to hit New Jersey hard, with parts of Morris County potentially among the most affected.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — Forecasters expect the upcoming storm to hit New Jersey hard, with parts of Morris County potentially getting up to 4 inches of rain. As of Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service projects 2 to 3 inches of precipitation through Wednesday in Morristown.
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch in 17 New Jersey counties, including Morris, from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Garden State could also experience severe thunderstorms Monday night.
Forecasters expect 1-4 inches of rain throughout the state. But uncertainty remains high because of small shifts that could create significant differences in impacts throughout the state, according to the National Weather Service.

Here's the forecast for Morristown:
- Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11pm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Low around 55. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
- Tuesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. High near 60. North wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
- Tuesday night: Showers likely, mainly before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Wednesday: A chance of showers before 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45.
