MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A man was struck and killed by a train this week after trespassing on Morris County tracks, according to NJ Transit.
On Thursday, around 6:20 p.m., Morris and Essex Line train 858 fatally struck a man between the Mt. Arlington and Dover stations, officials said. The train had departed Mt. Olive at 5:56 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Hoboken at 7:36 p.m.
NJ.com reported that the man was conscious following the accident and died in the hospital shortly afterward.
The identity of the man was not disclosed by NJ Transit.
Officials added that nobody on the train, including its one rider and the crew, was injured.
The incident resulted in the cancellation of two Morris and Essex Line trains.
New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.
