Morris Parks Alliance Shoe Fundraiser Extended

Support the Morris Parks Alliance in June

Trees replanted

The Morris Park Alliance is extending their shoe fundraiser until June 22nd. New and gently used shoes are being collected and will result in funds to replant trees in Morris County parks that have been lost to disease. Hundreds of trees have been attacked by the Emerald Ash Borer and the Beech Tree Nematode, resulting in thousands of dollars in costs to remove them. The landscape in many parks has been affected, with bare spots now in place of lush, old growth forest. Replanting has started and park staff continue to remediate the impact.

Shoe collection locations are at Park Commission facilities as well as at community partners. Boxes are located at Mennen Sports Arena, Morristown, Fosterfields Visitors Center, Morris Township, Park Commission offices at the Cultural Center, Morris Township, the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center, Chatham, and the Haggerty Center at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Morris Township. Generous community partners include the Parsippany and Randolph Libraries, the Morris County Library, and Connect One Bank in Morristown. For directions to the park sites, visit www.morrisparks.net.
