Armed Bank Robber Sought By Police In North Jersey

The masked man walked out of the bank with $12,000, authorities say.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help in finding an armed man who is accused of robbing a bank in Morris County, prosecutors say.

On Saturday, around 2 p.m., police were called to the Chase Bank at 530 Myrtle Avenue in Boonton on reports of a robbery.

Authorities discovered that a masked man wearing sunglasses, gloves, and a suit and tie entered the bank holding a pistol. The masked man demanded money and walked out with $12,000 in cash, police added.

Witnesses described the thief as a white man in his 50s.

Once he got the cash, the man left the bank, hopped into a grey/silver Honda Odyssey, and left the area, authorities say.

Prosecutors said that contrary to several rumors on social media, the alleged bank robber has not been apprehended as of Monday morning.
