MORRISTOWN, NJ — The Morristown Corporate Classic 5K Race has been rescheduled due to inclement weather.
The race, originally slated for July 16, will now be held on July 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Race organizers said the postponement was due to "unhealthy air quality conditions caused by smoke from Canadian wildfires."
Organizers say the Morristown Corporate Classic is New Jersey's premier corporate fitness event, bringing together coworkers, corporate teams and individual runners for a 3.1-mile race through downtown Morristown.
The four-decade-old race "promotes fitness, teamwork and camaraderie" while raising money for JBWS (Jersey Battered Women's Service), which provides services and support for survivors of domestic violence.
According to the Morristown Police Department, officers will assist with the annual race beginning Thursday. While the race starts at 7:30 p.m., road closures and race setup will begin much earlier, with some streets closing around 5 p.m. and traffic impacts expected through approximately 9 p.m.

Police said the race route includes:
Eastbound traffic on Washington Street will also be detoured via Scherzer Way in Morris Township and Burnham Parkway during the event.
According to police, motorists traveling north and west of downtown should seek alternate routes Thursday evening due to expected congestion.
