MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A car chase that turned into an on-foot manhunt in Morris County resulted in one woman being charged and a man escaping, according to police.
On Friday, around 6:30 p.m., a police officer spotted a gray Toyota traveling east on Route 46 in Mt. Olive with its hazard lights on.
The officer attempted to pull the Toyota over to see what was wrong before it drove off "at a high rate of speed," officials said.
The officer lost sight of the Toyota near Mt. Olive Road shortly before he was told by the police communications that a car had crashed in the backyard of a Hillcrest Avenue home.
A 9-1-1 caller who witnessed the crash reported seeing a man and woman run away from the scene of the crash, abandoning the Toyota, police said.
A manhunt ensued, and a woman later identified as Anastacia Novosyadlo, 38, of Philadelphia, Pa., was found hiding in a nearby bush, according to authorities. She was arrested without incident, police added.
Police found a baggie of cocaine, glass pipes containing crack cocaine residue, rocks of crack cocaine, baggies used for distribution, a pill bottle containing multiple pills, and a large
quantity of cash on Novosyadlo and around her general vicinity, officials said.
Novosyadlo was taken to police headquarters where she was
charged with possession with the intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, and possession of paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.
The man who was spotted fleeing by the 9-1-1 caller is still on the run, officials said.
