MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — October is National Pizza Month, and pizza pie-lovers in Morris County can rest easy knowing that they have the best in the state, according to a new ranking.
DoorDash recently released its Top Local Pizza Spots Across America list, known as "Battle of the Slices 2026." According to the food delivery company, the list includes small and medium-sized restaurants that serve pizza, have fewer than 10 locations, have at least 1,000 reviews on DoorDash, and rank among the highest for average consumer ratings from September 2025 through September 2026.
The list includes 40 pizzerias from across the country, broken down by region. The only Garden State pizzeria to make the list was Coniglios Old Fashioned Pizza in Morristown.
Located at 11 South Street, Coniglios opened in 2022 under the ownership and direction of award-winning pizzaiolo Nino Coniglio.
The Brooklyn native became a world champion pizza maker in 2005, winning the title at the World Pizza Championships in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy. He would go on to win the championship ten more times.
In addition, Coniglio, also known as "The King of Pies," was a winner of the Food Network's cooking competition, "Chopped."
Coniglio's Old Fashioned Pizza not only offers traditional pies, but also specialty pizzas, including Nonna's Square Spinach Pie featuring garlic, béchamel, mozzarella, and spinach.
Do not be fooled by the name, however, as Coniglio's Old Fashioned Pizza offers a lot more than pizza. Diners can enjoy salads, a slew of sandwiches (including breakfast sandwiches), antipasti, pasta dishes, pastries, and more. Click here to check out the menu.
"They may have the best meatballs in NJ, perfect texture and great flavor. Had the Josephina pie wow, it was really good, crisp, and delicious," one Google reviewer wrote. "The hit of fresh parm really works for me it reminded me of how my grandmother and mother made them. Can't wait to go back for another pie and test out the bakery."
"Pizza was incredible! My group shared the vodka pizza on square crust, sausage, pepper & onion on square crust, and the meatball & ricotta pizza, as well as a couple apps," another 5-star review reads. "Everything was amazing! Not to mention, the best chocolate croissant I've ever had! Highly recommend!"
