Event Details
This event is part of a lecture series, Breakfast University, dedicated to arts and culture.
While it may be interesting to know which are the most expensive, the most famous, or the most historically significant works, such lists rarely bring us a greater understanding of what art is really all about. For that, you need to turn to a very different set of paintings that stand out in their own way; paintings that can provide new insight into unique and unexpected possibilities of art. This presentation will look at five exemplary works from different times, places, and genres. The specific paintings discussed are by Rembrandt, Raphael, van Eyck, Monet and Jackson Pollock. Bonus: a painting from the Morris Museum will be discussed as well!
Tina Rivers Ryan is internationally renowned as one of the leading experts on contemporary art and art history.
Doors open at 9:15 AM for coffee, and the lecture starts at 10:00 AM.
