Morristown, NJ – November 1, 2017 Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Morris and Sussex Counties has joined the #GivingTuesday movement, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
In continuing to celebrate its 30th Anniversary year, CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties is looking to recruit, train, and supervise 45 new volunteers to advocate for vulnerable children entering foster care.
Occurring this year on November 28th, #GivingTuesday is held annually in the United States on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This special day is designated to kick-off the holiday-giving-season and to inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

Our goal is to be able to recruit and train 45 new CASA volunteers this year, who will advocate for children right here in our community who are victims of abuse and neglect. During the Giving Tuesday campaign, we need to raise $10,000 to offset the costs of recruitment, screening, and training of volunteer advocates.
“As our country comes together and moves forward into a new year, we must all remember vulnerable children in our community who need advocates. These children will be the next generation of leaders,” said Lisa Barsky Firkser, Executive Director of CASA.
