Sorry-Event has been cancelled due to concerns about Coronvirus 19.
What’s a disability that’s invisible, affects not only the person affected by it but anyone that comes in contact with person affected by it? It often causes misunderstandings, makes people think that the person affected by it is a little slow, maybe even stupid, or even a snob - and is often associated with the aging population (incorrect assumption).
Because of these negative stereotyping, the person associated with it is often hesitant to reveal it. So even though there’s a medical device that can help them, they only want them if they’re small and inconspicuous – invisible would be best. Strangely enough, even though these medical devices are vital for a person’s total health, most insurance companies don’t cover them. As a result, only 20% of our US population uses these medical devices. Dementia is only one of the many suspected consequences suffered because of it.
