Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill celebrated Carol Arnott, Assistant Director for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Morris and Sussex Counties, as a 2019 Angels in Adoption® Honoree for her outstanding service in educational advocacy for children in foster care. The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), which coordinates the Angels in Adoption® Program, honored Ms. Arnott on November 14 in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Arnott was honored for her role in bettering the lives of 5,600 foster children in her 9 years with CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties and previously, CASA of Essex. She’s utilized her strengths in education laws and practices to best advocate for children in foster care.

“I’m extremely honored to receive such a prestigious award for a cause that’s close to my heart,” said, Ms. Arnott. “I’m grateful for CCAI’s and Congresswoman Sherrill’s recognition, and I look forward to continue fulfilling the CASA mission and advocating for vulnerable children in our communities.”

“The Angels in Adoption program gives a platform to the families, advocates, and experts who so often serve quietly and faithfully behind the scenes yet make a huge impact on behalf of children in need of families. Together with the Adoption Caucus, we are thrilled to shine a light on the extraordinary work of our Angels and the power of adoption,” said CCAI’s Interim Executive Director, Bethany Haley.
