Consider CASA This Giving Tuesday

Show thanks this Giving Tuesday by donating to CASA

As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving and show our appreciation for the loving family, and beautiful home that surrounds us, let us pause and remember all of those who struggle to find a warm place, a hearty meal, a forever family and their equilibrium.

At the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Morris and Sussex Counties’ office, we are ever mindful of the children who are estranged from their families because they have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. For them, the holidays will be very difficult. These children are frightened, filled with uncertainty, and without familiar faces to comfort them. For over 450 children in Morris and Sussex Counties who are in the foster care system there will be an ever-present loss for their holidays this year.

The CASA organization is asking our community members to consider re-defining the holidays this year with a donation in lieu of presents. Charitable giving is the ultimate way to send a unique message to the special people in your life.

CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on December 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

At CASA, last year, donations from members of our community supported advocacy and mentoring for over 400 children in the foster care system. As a community let us all show our support for local non-profit organizations that truly make a difference. Let us all demonstrate the strength of giving back and making an impact this holiday season. Donations that flow from the heart endure throughout the year.
