Construction Begins On A 'Town Center' For Morris Township

Lidl grocery and Starbucks will be among the businesses mixed into Morris Marketplace, with community attractions such as pocket parks.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Morris Marketplace came closer to becoming reality. Construction commenced retail property, which will also feature community amenities such as pocket parks, children's play areas and outdoor dining spaces.

Construction should be complete by the fourth quarter of next year, according to Accurate Builders & Developers, which is developing the property in partnership with DeVimy Equities. At that point, the East Hanover Avenue space will be turned over to the retail providers to build out.

More than a dozen tenants have signed leases for Morris Marketplace, including Lidl grocery, Starbucks, AT&T, Orangetheory Fitness, &Pizza, Restore Wellness and Cryotherapy and a variety of eateries, shops and businesses.

Morris Marketplace will go on the former Colgate-Palmolive corporate campus, combining 140,000 square feet of retail space with various community attractions. Amenities will include children's play areas, pocket parks, splash pads, seating areas outdoor dining spaces and other active and passive recreation spaces.

The space is designed to hold a "town center" vibe and re-imagine what a suburban retail space can become. The 20-acre property is part of a larger, 64-acre development spanning Morris Township and Morristown, ultimately becoming townhomes and rental units.
