Runaway Horses Turn Cops Into Cowboys In Morris County

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A group of police officers tried their hands at ranching recently when a herd of horses was spotted loose in a Morris County suburb.

Over the weekend, police officers in Montville rose to the challenge of herding a group of four horses that escaped their enclosures.

"From being a police officer to a rancher within moments, our well-rounded officers know how to handle any situation," police said in a statement.

Assisting with the herding efforts were representatives from Chestnut Farms, authorities added. Police didn't say where the horses came from, but clarified they didn't belong to Chestnut Farms.

Authorities said the horses were safely brought back to where they came from.
