Councilman Proposes Less Time for Leaf Blower Use in Morristown
Survey shows residents don't like morning noise, report says.
Those noisy leaf blowers might be in use during fewer hours of the day if one Morristown Councilman has his way.
According to morristowngreen.com, Councilman Stefan Armington suggested restricting the use of leaf blowers to 8 a.m. to dusk on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. A current town ordinance allows for the equipment to be used from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., the report said.
Armington is the councilman who created a survey for residents to use on the town’s website earlier this year. According to the report, 366 residents responded with the majority stating they were most bothered by the use of leaf blowers in the morning hours, with weekends and evenings following.
