The County College of Morris Looking for New Members for Board of Trustees
Residents can submit their résumés to serve on the Board of Trustees by Sept. 15.

The County College of Morris are looking for Morris County residents interested in serving on their Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees is made up of eleven Morris County residents who volunteer for four years. The Morris County Freeholders elect eight members and the Governor appoints two members. The Morris County Superintendent of Schools is a member by statute. Two of the four-year terms of freeholder-appointed trustees expire at the end of Oct.
Residents can submit their résumés to a special trustees’ search committee of the Morris County Board of Freeholders by Sept. 15. Applicants are asked to also include a brief background statement explaining why they want to serve on the board and what skills they’d provide the board. The committee will review the submitted résumés and then make their suggestions to the freeholders.

Anyone who wants to be on the Board of Trustees must be a resident of Morris County for at least four years. They can’t be an employee of Morris County government or hold a current elected office in Morris County.
According to the press release, “Applicants must be able to demonstrate independent judgment, distinction in their profession, knowledge of higher education, and a firm commitment to serving the college.”

Applicants must dedicate at least 15 to 20 hours a month to his or her duties as a trustee. Duties include “appointing, supporting and evaluating the college president; clarifying and, if necessary, revising the college’s mission statement; ratifying long term plans; approving the college’s educational program; insuring fiscal viability; and maintaining the college’s physical plant,” says the press release.
