CSE Student Interns at Chatham Borough, Department of Community Services

Tesla Egan, a criminal justice and psychology double major in the class of 2018, has a deep familial connection to the College of Saint Elizabeth. Both her maternal and paternal aunts, Margaret Carlisle and Laura Egan, graduated from CSE while her grandfather, Roger Egan, was among the first male professors to teach here

Despite growing up in Maine and living in Los Angeles, California, when it came time to apply to colleges Egan says, "CSE has everything I need to reach my goals and with my family history, it was an easy decision."

After choosing Chatham Borough, Department of Community Services to complete CSE's 20 hours of required community service, Egan accepted their offer for a paid internship. Now, she spends her days writing grants, organizing events and learning how to improve the quality of life for all residents.

"People don't realize what goes into running even a small town," she says.
After graduating, Egan plans to pursue a career in law enforcement and hopes to eventually become a forensic psychologist. She's using her internship and experience working with the public to prepare for her future career.

"I've really learned a lot by listening to the people and communicating with several different departments," says Egan.

However, she credits her CSE professors with guiding and keeping her grounded."
Every professor I have encountered here has been a really good supporter and made me be a better version of myself," she says.
