DENVILLE, NJ- Musicians and non-musicians who are looking to volunteer with a local string band who will have several opportunities to perform throughout the year in our parades and/or concerts.

The Denville String Band is a Mummers-style band seeking new members of all backgrounds (high school to adult). In addition to saxophone, accordion, guitar, and banjo players, we are also looking for non-musicians to help with concert set up, parade banner carriers, someone to drive our truck and creative people to help make our uniforms. There is no charge to be in the band.

Interested musicians and non-musicians can attend a rehearsal on a Monday night at our very own band house at 10 Station Road in Denville. Just call first since sometimes we are performing on a Monday night. Those with questions can contact the band at 973-453-5537 or send us an email at DenvilleStringBand@gmail.com

The band performs a range of music from classics like “Four Leaf Clover” and “High Hopes” to John Denver’s “Country Roads” and Johnny Cash’s “Folsom City Blues.” We perform Christmas and holiday songs in our holiday concerts and parades, along with Irish favorites for our St. Patrick’s Day parades. For Memorial Day and The 4th of July we make sure we fill our parades and concerts with patriotic favorites like our "Yankee Doodle” and “ Grand Old Flag.”

New members who want to march in parades, will have the opportunity to join us for the Madison Christmas Parade on Friday, November 27th at 5:30 pm, The Boonton Fire Department Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 28th at 1 pm and The Denville Holiday Parade on Sunday, November 29th at 2 pm. There is also a possible holiday concert at an assisted living facility in November for members who do not march in parades. The Denville String Band has proudly marched in the Morris County St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Morristown for many years and is looking forward to being asked to participate again this year. We have many members who chose to perform in both concerts and parades.
