Donation Drives Set For Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry

Morris Township will collect this Saturday, Morristown May 16.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ - The Morris Township Committee, Administration, and Police Department are coordinating a food drive for the Interfaith Food Pantry with Morristown to soon follow suit.

It will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday at the Morris Township Police Station, 49 Woodland Ave.

“The food pantry really needs our help,” says Mayor Cathy Wilson. “A lot of people are suffering right now.”

According to the Interfaith Food Pantry, the items most needed include:

  • pasta
  • pasta sauce
  • tomato products
  • cereal, dry milk (1 qt. packaging)
  • evaporated milk
  • shelf stable rice/almond milk
  • peanut butter
  • Rice-A-Roni
  • Hamburger Helper
  • canned tuna fish
  • canned meat and meals (ravioli, stew, chili)
  • hearty variety soup
  • baby formula (Enfamil preferred)
  • baby food (stages 1, 2, and 3)
  • baby cereal (oatmeal preferred)
  • diapers (size 4, 5, and 6)

Those donating should pull in to the designated parking lot across from the police
station on Dwyer Lane with the grocery bags in the back of the car. They will be unloaded from the car to ensure social distancing.

“Special thanks to our police department for their help with this event. The Interfaith Food Pantry provides vital assistance to our community. I encourage you to help in any way you can,” Wilson said.

The following Saturday, May 16, Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, the Morristown Police Bureau, F.L.A.G of Morristown and Morris Township and Help MorrisNOW will have a Community Wide Food Drive to help support the Morristown Interfaith Food Pantry.

Social and Physical Distancing will be maintained. Masks must be worn. Those donating can arrive in the back of Town Hall, 200 South Street between 9 a.m. and noon. There will be no need to get out of the vehicles. Someone will collect the items at the trunk or door.
