Exhibit Opening and Reception on March 2 for "1917: World War, Women's Rights, and Weaponry Sciences" at the MCHS

On Thursday, March 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., join the Morris County Historical Society at a special Exhibit Opening at Acorn Hall for "1917: World War, Women’s Rights, and Weaponry Sciences." The presentation features local historian, author, and MCHS Board of Trustees member Peter J. Tamburro, Jr. who will share thoughts on Morris County life just before, and immediately after, the U.S. entry into WWI on April 6, 1917 when its residents were faced with an atmosphere of anxiety, fear, and unfamiliar cultural tensions.

"1917: World War, Women’s Rights, and Weaponry Sciences" focuses on the sacrifices of Morris County residents who served, as well as those who gave their lives, during WWI, the era’s cultural changes as women sought recognition as equals and the right to vote, and the tremendous advances in weaponry sciences that took place at Picatinny Arsenal and throughout Morris County. The exhibit offers authentic WWI uniforms, weaponry and militaria, period clothing, and ephemera, and is available for viewing through Sunday, June 25, 2017.

After the presentation, guests are invited to a reception with light refreshments. Space is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance; cost is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for students, and Free for MCHS members.
