Fallen Branch Kills Driver In Morris Township: Police

The driver of another vehicle sustained minor injuries.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — A fallen tree branch struck two vehicles, killing one driver Wednesday in Morris Township. The other driver sustained minor injuries.

The accident took place just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday on Mendham Road. The fallen branch struck a Nissan Murano traveling eastbound and a Mercedes SUV moving westbound, according to Morris Township Police Sgt. Robert Shearer.

The Murano driver was pronounced dead at the hospital. Only the drivers occupied each vehicle.

Authorities have not publicly identified either person. Police cannot release any further information about the deceased individual, because the incident is under active investigation, Shearer told Patch.
