Fire Kills 1 In Morris County, 2 Saved: Police

The prosecutor's office is withholding the identities of the residents and the deceased at this time.

EAST HANOVER, NJ — A house fire killed one person early Thursday morning in East Hanover. Authorities saved two people, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

Police and fire officials were dispatched just after midnight to a single-family home on Ward Place. The prosecutor's office is withholding the identities of the residents and the deceased at this time.

The cause of the fire doesn't appear suspicious, and the prosecutor's office doesn't anticipate any charges getting filed, authorities said.

Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll thanked the East Hanover Police and Fire Departments, the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, the prosecutor's office's Arson/Environmental Crimes and Major Crimes Units and all other mutual aid providers for their efforts in the matter.
