Free Entrance To All Morris Co. State Parks This Summer
Gov. Phil Murphy announced that park entrance fees will be waived for all visitors, regardless of state residency.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — As of Memorial Day Weekend, entrance to Hopatcong State Park, Hacklebarney State Park and Farny State Park will all be free, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Thursday.
This summer, admission to all New Jersey state parks, forests, and recreation areas will be free. The one-year state park fee holiday, first proposed in the 2023 budget proposal, is one of several fee waivers and programs designed to advance New Jersey's affordability and opportunity.
Fees are waived regardless of state residency. Those who already purchased a 2022 State Park Pass will receive a full refund. Other individual park fees, such as camping or mobile sport fishing permits, will remain.

“While incentivizing tourism and economic activity in our local communities, the fee holiday also promotes access to green, open space; thriving waterways; and the many natural wonders that make us proud to call New Jersey our home. We thank the Department of Environmental Protection for its devoted environmental stewardship, which enables each and every New Jerseyan to enjoy the physical and mental health benefits that safe outdoor activities provide,” Murphy said in a release.
With Memorial Day approaching, Commissioner LaTourette began the summer outdoor season this week by visiting the Jersey shore and lakeshores, including Hopatcong State Park.
