Free Parking Coming To Morristown For Holidays, Before New-Year Rate Increases
The town planned to increase parking fees in spring 2020 but delayed them because of the pandemic.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — It's the season of giving, so Morristown will make parking free on December weekends at the Ann-Bank garage. But come New Year's, officials will raise the rates on that same garage and more parking lots and garages around town.

The Morristown Parking Authority originally planned to increase rates in spring 2020 but delayed the move because of the pandemic. The rate increases will take effect Jan. 1.

"The MPA is committed to top level service, maintenance, convenience and comfort in our facilities and lots," the parking authority said in a Nov. 10 notice. "In order to maintain these standards, it is necessary for regular and timely rate increases."
Several surface lots will increase rates from 50 to 75 cents to $1 per hour. The cost of a monthly pass in many of those lots will increase by $5-10 dollars.

Monthly fees will also increase by $5 in the Ann-Bank garage (soon to be $80) and Dalton garage (soon to be $105 regular, $50 for students). The Dehart garage will go from $8o to $100 per month. Some of the hourly fees in the garages will marginally increase.
For monthly permit holders, the rates will be applied on the Dec. 21 billing cycle.
The Dehart garage will also become a 24-7 operation on or about Jan. 3.
