Garden Event Helps Funds Bloom For Loyola Jesuit Center in Morristown

Loyola Jesuit Center, a sacred space for spiritual growth, prayer and reflection located in Morristown, N.J., held its fifth annual “Evening in the Loyola Prayer Gardens” fundraiser on June 23. This year’s event brought together more than one-hundred supporters and raised nearly $30,000. All proceeds will go directly to the operations of the Center, allowing Loyola to continue its free will offering policy of accepting donations of any size for its retreats and providing future generations seeking spiritual discernment a sacred space to come to be refreshed and renewed.

The evening included an elaborate array of hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, a Super 50/50 Raffle and a live concert performance by the Mueller Family Schola, who will perform the same program at World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow, Poland at the end of this month.

The evening also celebrated Loyola’s growth and achievements. While many Tri-State area retreat centers have closed because of difficult financial times, Loyola has continued to flourish and has provided retreats for thousands of people each year since opening its doors in 1927. Loyola is currently the only Jesuit retreat center operating in the NJ/NY Metropolitan area.

“We are truly blessed. The generosity of our friends is absolutely amazing. The financial support of all of our patrons and the dedication of our Jesuit and lay staff, Board of Trustees and volunteers, is what makes Loyola continue to blossom,” said Renee Owens, Director of the Work. “These donations allow Loyola to provide a variety of meaningful spiritual retreats and experiences for people from all walks of life and all faiths and they secure the Center’s vitality for future generations.”
