When the real estate market is good, more people get into the business, when it turns the opposite direction more people get out of the business. Well the market is good so we are seeing an influx of new realtors all taking a piece of the pie. The good thing is that the pie is a little bigger these days and there is always enough for everyone.
Where does it begin? It starts with an interest in real estate of course. Not just living somewhere, but a real interest in housing, & helping others find housing and/or commercial property. As required by the NJ Real Estate Commission, in order to represent a buyer or seller in the sale of real estate, one must have obtained their real estate license and must work for a real estate broker.
To obtain a real estate license, a 75-hour course must be taken with a certified real estate school. Once the class is taken and the student has passed the school's exam, that same school must then register the student with the state testing company. This exam consists of 110 questions varying between state and federal laws, fair housing, contracts, listings, and other real estate related topics. The applicant must have a 70 or better to pass the exam. Once completed, the applicant must get finger printed and then choose a Licensed Real Estate Broker to start their career in the industry.
