Giant Faith: Super Bowl Champ Named Morristown Church Bishop

When Bart Oates was winning two Super Bowls with the New York Giants and another with the San Francisco 49ers, he was a center on the offensive line.

Now he’s at the center of a different kind of team based in Morristown.

Oates was named the Bishop of Morristown Ward 1 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, according to dailyrecord.com.

Oates, a Morristown resident, was named to the position Sunday after an announcement in which an additional Morristown congregation was formed, the report said.

The church is located on James Street, and the change will be effective Aug. 30, the report said.
