Girl Scout Builds Garden For Retired Sisters In Morristown As Gold Award Project

Isabella King spent over 150 hours to build the therapeutic garden.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A local Girl Scout build a handicap accessible therapeutic garden for retired sisters at Villa Walsh for her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Villa Walsh junior Isabella King spent over 150 hours creating the garden, which benefits the Religious Teachers Filippini. Before her project, the small area was unused. Now, it's home to an organic vegetable garden.

Friends and family contributed another 150 hours to help build ten raised garden beds, and will them with various vegetables and herbs. Benches were also built to hold small gatherings.

Building materiels were donated by Meyer Stone, Morristown Lumber, the Mosberg Family and Pine View Homes. The Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Agway of Morristown, the Farm at Green Village and Morris County Farms donated many of the plants and herbs. Private donors contributed benches, side tables, and fencing.
