Hair to Stay: Morristown Barber Shop Celebrates 85 Years in Business
Plaza Barber Shop adds fourth generation family member to staff.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Morristown’s hectic business sector and busy nightlife is a shop that has stood the test of time.
And this year, Plaza Barber Shop of Morristown is proving it’s here to stay.
The family owned and operated barber shop on Elm Street is celebrating its 85th year in business and announced it has added a fourth generation of family members to carry on the legacy.

Dominic Palumbo opened the shop in 1929 after emigrating from Italy, and was joined by his son Jerry Palumbo. Shortly thereafter, son-in-law Joseph Russo became a member of the business and has been a mainstay for the last 57 years.
This past August, Russo’s grandson Albert joined the staff at Plaza Barber Shop, becoming the fourth generation in the family business. Albert’s father Gerry Russo also works at the shop as well as Joseph Russo’s daughter, Rosemary Russo-Munod.

The Russo family has been active in the Knights of Columbus, Columbian Club, and St. Virgil’s Church in Morris Plains.
The barber shop is located at 6 Elm Street and is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
