Superintendent and principal salaries have increased state-wide, and taxpayers in Morristown spent $1,797,558 on the superintendent and principals in their school district last year. According to data from the New Jersey Department of Education, more than 2,500 educational administrators in the state earned $150,000 or more during the previous school year.

'Long-Overdue' Property Revaluation Coming To Morristown

Morristown residents should expect a knock on the door from town inspectors beginning at the end of the summer. Under pressure from neighboring towns, the Morris County Tax Board has ordered that the Town of Morristown begin a revaluation process, according to town officials. The long-overdue town-wide tax revaluation will begin this summer with commercial property inspections, followed by residences in the fall, town Administrator Jillian Barrick told the council last week.

$200K Given To Morris Museum In Pandemic Recovery, Preservation Grants

The Morris Museum received two grants totaling $201,939 from the Morris County Board of County Commissioners for historic preservation and restoration, as well as COVID-19 relief. The museum is located in Morris Township in the Twin Oaks Mansion, which was the home of P. Ballantine & Sons Brewery president Peter H.B. Frelinghuysen. The Neo-Georgian-style home was built in 1913 and is listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places.

14 Juveniles Hospitalized With Chlorine Inhalation Symptoms In Madison

A group of juveniles at Drew University were hospitalized early Monday afternoon after experiencing breathing problems caused by chemicals from the pool, according to Madison police. An investigation revealed that a higher than normal concentration of liquid chlorine was accidentally released into the pool, causing symptoms of chlorine inhalation in 14 people.

The building, which had once been a Pathmark grocery store, is now the Advanced Medical Center – Jefferson, a fully leased, 45,000-square-foot Class A medical office building.

Annual Deer Hunt Scheduled Throughout Morris Co. Parks

In an effort to help reduce and maintain the local white-tailed deer population, the Morris County Parks Commission approved the 2022-2023 deer hunt in Morris County Parks. The goal of the deer hunt is to keep deer populations low enough to allow for the restoration of native plant communities within the parks. According to the commission, studies have found that at high densities, deer browsing can have a negative impact on forest communities. Overbrowsing can eliminate understory herbaceous plants, shrubs, and saplings, leaving only adult canopy trees in the forest.

A rising senior from Morristown High School joined forces with United Hatzalah to train as a first responder in Israel alongside 49 other teens from across the United States and Canada. Aron Goodman traveled to Israel this summer, where he became a fully registered emergency medical responder after graduating from the emergency medical response training course, which included a mass casualty incident (MCI) training drill in the Aminadav forest on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

Missing Morris Co. Man Found Using Project Lifesaver

Two Morris County Sheriff's Office deputies were able to quickly locate a missing 21-year-old Project Lifesaver client who became separated from his caregiver on July 20 in Pequannock's Mountainside Park. Detective Marc Adamsky and Sheriff's Officer Ashley Craig were able to locate the missing Butler man using a Project Life Saver receiver after the Sheriff's Office organized and deployed a search effort.

Morris Man Convicted In Prescription Drug Scheme With Ex-Principal

A federal jury has convicted a Randolph man of conspiring to defraud public health benefit programs by billing for medically unnecessary compound prescriptions, according to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger. Matthew Puccio, 40, of Randolph, was convicted on July 19, of conspiracy to commit health care fraud following a seven-day jury trial before U.S. District Judge John Michael Vazquez. Puccio, who formally worked as a sales representative, will face up to 10 years in prison and fines of $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss from his crime, Sellinger said.
