Honor the anniversary of the death of President Lincoln - case exhibit on display during touring hours at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum

Honor the 150th anniversary of the passing of our sixteenth President with a case displaying memorial ribbons from mourners of the time.

One hundred and fifty years ago today on April 15th, 1865, sixteenth President of the United States Abraham Lincoln passed away of a fatal assassination wound suffered the day before in the historical Ford’s Theatre of Washington D.C. To honor the memory of President Lincoln, Macculloch Hall Historical Museum presents a case exhibit display of mourning and memorial badges that were produced to remember the fallen President. The case, located in the center hall of the museum, will be available for viewing during regular touring hours through June 2015.

Also of interest is the second floor is the exhibit “The Civil War Through the Eyes of Thomas Nast”. Before radio, TV, and the internet, there was political cartoonist Thomas Nast who illustrated battles, troop movements, and their activities throughout the Civil War. Mounted to commemorate the final years of the Civil War Sesquicentennial (2011-2015), this exhibit includes a number of these stirring images.

The Museum is open today 1 – 4pm, last ticket sold at 3pm.
