How Many Inches Of Snow Is Morristown Getting, And When? Town Sends Planning Info
Forecasters updated snow predictions for the Morristown area. The town will open up free garage parking for permitted residents.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The National Weather Service says that the snowstorm predicted to hit the Northeast overnight is likely to drop 2-4 inches Thursday night and potentially a little more Friday morning in Greater Morristown.
Here's the National Weather Service's forecast for the Greater Morristown area as of 1 p.m. Thursday:
- Thursday night: Snow, mainly after midnight. Low around 26. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
- Friday: A chance of snow, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 33. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
- Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 18. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
- Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 32. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.
The National Weather Service placed the Morristown area and portions of northwestern New Jersey under a winter-weather advisory for 10 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday. Plan on slippery road conditions, which could impact morning commutes, the agency says.

Morristown will open free garage parking for residents that park on-street and/or have on-street parking permits in the following facilities:
- Dalton Garage at Cattano Avenue (available 7 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday)
- Ann/Bank Parking Garage (available 7 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday)
- HQ's Parking Garage (available beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday. Exit only from 7 a.m. to noon Friday, and see an attendant at the exit.)

- All vehicles must be removed from the garages by noon Friday.
- Show your driver's license as proof of Morristown residency upon exiting, and your parking fee will be waived.
- The date and time of vehicle removal are subject to change.
