Holiday Check-In: How Much Is COVID Spreading In Greater Morristown?

MORRISTOWN, NJ — You're probably tired of thinking about the coronavirus before family gatherings. But this will be the second Thanksgiving in which it becomes a factor.

Luckily, Patch has gathered important COVID-19 information about Greater Morristown.

Morris County averaged 103.6 infections per day in the past week, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. That's more than double the amount of daily new cases this week a month ago, when the county averaged 46.8.

Here are the local case numbers:

• Morristown saw 26 new cases from Nov. 15 to Tuesday, bringing the town to 2,480 infections since the pandemic began. That's an increase of 1.06 percent to Morristown's case total in eight days.
• Officials reported 38 new Morris Township cases in that span, bringing the township to 1,879 cases since the pandemic began. The case total increased by 2.06 percent since Nov. 15.
• Morris Plains's case total went from 655 to 669 for a 2.14 percent increase in eight days.

Here are the local hospital ICU statistics as of the week of Nov. 11 — the most recently available data — according to the Department of Health and Human Services:

• Morristown Medical Center: 23.98 percent of ICU beds available
• Saint Clare's Denville Hospital: 71.79 percent of ICU beds available
• Kindred Hospital New Jersey - Morris County (Dover): ICU bed data unavailable
• Chilton Medical Center (Pompton Plains): 60.98 percent of ICU beds available
• Overlook Medical Center (Summit): 34.55 percent of ICU beds available
• Saint Barnabas Medical Center (Livingston): 57.89 percent of ICU beds available
